Give life. A blood donation is an easy way to give the gift of life. To make a donation or to host a blood drive at your church or in your community call the American Red Cross at 1-800-givelife or log onto www.givelife.org/
  • There are routine shortages of O and B blood types. African Americans have more type O and B blood than other populations.
  • African Americans populate 26.4 percent of Maryland , but only 8 percent of the blood donations in the state.
  • Regular African American blood transfusion patients rely on blood donors of African American descent, from which they are less likely to develop antibodies which weaken their immune system.

Mission - To promote the knowledge and understanding of Sickle Cell Disease as a health crisis and to advocate for people who are living with the disease.

Purpose - To inform and educate the community about Sickle Cell Disease and Trait. To actively advocate for people who are living with the disease.
