You may ask the question, “What can I do to help”? I say to you today, “Do what you can.” You may say to yourself, How? I say to you, “However you can.” The bottom line is that we are a powerful people united. Individually, we can accomplish goals set before us, but collectively, we have the ability to change this nation’s perception about health issues concerning African-American and more specifically Sickle Cell Disease. Together, I believe we will change mind sets, bring about understanding, and promote legislation that will help to further a cure and treatment of Sickle Cell Disease. I only ask of you today, to do whatever you can to help. That means donating blood, supporting fundraising events or volunteering your time. Just know that your participation and your acts of kindness are needed to make change happen. I would also like to encourage you to involve your family, friends and co-workers, to let them know when planned events are happening and to visit our website often. We are now proud members of the United Way Campaign. If your company makes charitable contributions to nonprofit organizations, please encourage them to consider donating to a worthy cause. Please keep us in mind, and in your prayers, as we look forward to serving our community, and doing the great work that is ahead.
